This is possible Prototype of "Civil Defense Car" that was reworked on #6475 Pickle Vat Car that Lionel made circa 1960. The current owner of this model forwarded the following correspondence from some years ago. Question to Seller: "I am currently the highest bidder. I am concerned as to whether this item may have been removed from the archives inappropriately. Can you confirm the removal of this item and its authenticity?" Answer from Seller: I purchased this from a collection last May. It was in this collection for 25+ years. I don't know the complete history. The collection has a number of rare and scarce items we will be listing. He was a TCA standards member and has no fakes. Thanks Terral." Examine very, very closely, and use best judgment. NO WARRANTY. We have concerns as to the originality in part given that the roof was painted green after the brake wheel was installed.
